Be thoroughly familiar with the hydraulic characteristics of the device and the pumping system used to supply the water. In order to produce an effective firefighting water flow, the operator must be properly trained.
Open valve slowly that supplies water to the device, fill water to pipes or hoses slowly, thus preventing possible water hammer.
Inspect the device regularly after each use as described in the Maintenance section.
